Belize July 2006
We just got back from a relaxing trip to Belize. The country is beautiful and the people so friendly! If you can believe it, the hotel had NO tv, phone, internet or clock!! We relaxed by the pool and enjoyed being out of touch with the real world. We also had time to snorkel, swim with sharks and sting rays, and visit Lamani, a local Mayan Ruin. Hope everyone enjoys our photos......
Here were are underneath the jungle/rain forest canopy at Lamani. The flora and fauna are amazing...we saw the national flower of Belize (a black orchid), allspice, which is actually a plant all unto itself, and so many other plants the guide pointed out and can't remember now! :)
Here is the most beautiful Mayan Ruin at Lamani. It stood alone in this very open grassy area....an incredibly impressive sight!
Here we are standing next to some Mayan decoration on the front side of a pyramid. The government and archeologists have covered up most of the decorative artwork, in order to preserve it, but this one is amazing....you can see all the facial features!
Here is the incredible view from the Victoria House (our hotel). It sat right on the beach and the view was amazing.....why couldn't this be our backyard?
